BUT WHEN/THOU WILT
by Dimitry TetinComing Soon
Two companion publications that grapple with the history of Russian and then Soviet occupation of the Estonia in the Baltic region while also considering the context of the East European Diaspora. This project started in 2018 at the TYPA Letterpress and Paper Art Centre in Estonia during which I created glyphs using the Latin and Cyrillic wooden type in the collection. One of the publications, "But When Thou," deals explicitly with occupation of Estonia while the other, "Thou Wilt," develops the form of the glyphs further, imagining them at a monumental, fantastical scale.
